From the desk of

Bruce Broussard

What happens in Multnomah and Clackamas County affects and reflects on all of us, including the whole state.  We can all work together to make Oregon whole again.

BRUCE’S ISSUES FOR OREGONIANS

NO NEED TO INCREASE TAXES.  Just spend the money like it was yours and

mine, which it is!

GIVE HELP TO SENIORS WHO NEED IT.  Affordable housing, medical services and supplemental food.

KEEP DECENT PAYING JOBS IN AMERICA.   It’s a complicated problem, but we must do what we can one job at a time.

GIVE SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS WHAT THEY NEED to do a better job of educating our children and hold them accountable.  We need to get our share of the

“No Child Left Behind” funds while the program is still available.

UPHOLD AND ENFORCE OUR LAWS.  Protect civil rights and stop illegal immigration from all countries.

HELP BUSINESSES GROW, ESPECIALLY SMALLER ONES that can hire more citizens at good, livable wages.

SAVE PUBLIC AND COMMUNITY BROADCASTING.  Citizens deserve and need access to a public voice.

DO MORE TO ELIMINATE GANG VIOLENCE AND DRUGS, whether it takes more laws or more law enforcement, including community policing.

A personal note from Bruce...

After serving in the Vietnam War, I came to Portland as a Marine

Recruiter.  I liked the city and Oregon so much that I stayed after

leaving the Marine Corps and worked for several Fortune 500 companies until pursuing my own business interests.

Norma has been my wife and partner in all things for over 30 years.

Together, we formed Tri County Housing Company, which hired local workers and solicited local contractors.  We gave many people an opportunity to own a home for the first time.  Later, we built a 38

unit senior housing complex in northeast Portland.

I’ve volunteered thousands of hours on committees to help people

improve their neighborhoods and communities.  With grown children, two granddaughters and ten grandsons, Norma and I definitely have a vested interest in the future of our metropolitan area and the state.        - Bruce and Norma Broussard
